We prevent oral diseases by carefully examining the mouth for early signs of gum disease and tooth decay. To do this effectively, we will ask you about your diet and your oral hygiene routine, as both can affect the likelihood of disease.
Caries (tooth decay) prevention:
Caries, or tooth decay, is caused by bacteria, which turn sugar into acids that eat away at the tooth enamel.
For diagnostic purposes, we use x-rays to discover tooth decay which is invisible to the naked eye.
Although our hygienists will remove surface stains from your teeth, you will then need tooth whitening to penetrate the structure of your teeth and increase their brightness. This is achieved by applying gel to the teeth in a custom-made tray, allowing your teeth to sparkle.
Our qualified hygienists can clean and polish your teeth, removing plaque, tartar and stains to reveal the tooth beneath. Importantly, they will also give you advice on how best to care for teeth and gums day-to-day, paying particular attention to problem areas.
